We Haven’t Been Communicating | Daily Prompt: Unknown Caller

You receive a call from someone an unexpected person. Who is it, and what is the conversation about? Go!

[Phone rings. Twice.]

Mati: Hello?

Caller: Mati. This is Kian.

Mati: Kian. Why’d you call?

Kian: do you have Ren’s number? I want to call her.

Mati: sorry. I don’t.

Kian: she hasn’t been going online. And she hasn’t updated her Facebook. Do you know if she has updated anything?

Mati: I only know what I see online. And I don’t see much on her page.

Kian: do you know if she has changed her number? I tried calling her but the person who answered said that there’s no one there by that name.

Mati: maybe her phone was stolen again.

Kian: possible. How about Shen? Do you have her number? Do you still talk to her?

Mati: I talk to her—I mean, I reply to her posts and we chat every now and again, so I really don’t feel the need to text or call her. So I don’t know if the number I have is the one she’s using now.

Kian: really?

Mati: yeah.

Kian: okay, Tsa’s then? Or The Brothers?

Mati: I haven’t called The Brothers in years. Sorry. As for Tsa, we haven’t been communicating for more than a year now.

Kian: but you are still friends with them on Facebook?

Mati: yeah.

Kian: you’ve changed so much.

Mati: [silence]

Kian: I’m going to set up an EB* and I want you to attend so this detachment of your would stop.

Mati: [silence]

Kian: if I get them all to come, you’d go to right?

Mati: we’ll see.

Kian: I’m going to make other calls. Bye.

Mati: [puts phone down]
