One Foot in the Victorian Era London | Daily Prompt: 21st Century Citizen

Do you belong in this day and age? Do you feel comfortable being a citizen of the 21st-century? If you do, explain why — and if you don’t, when in human history would you rather be?

One foot is here in the 21st century Philippines, the other is the Victorian Era London.

I really can’t explain why. But I guess the anchor is in the books I read as a kid: Journey to the Center of the Earth, Water Babies, 20 Leagues Under the Sea, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Oliver Twist, and a host of others.

Granted, they’re not all set in neither London nor during the Victorian Era—but they have this inexplicable air that I closely associate with the space and the time. The conversations, the table manners, the wit; they transport me to a place and period that I never was in.

    A past life maybe?

I’m fascinated with the Victorian era – perhaps like you, I’ve read/seen lots of Victorian publications. I like it because so much happened during that time that changed the UK. Just 100 hundred years ago, our lives would’ve been completely different.

Past life. That would be quite a fantasy, wouldn’t it?
Yeah. Back then, there was so much to discover. The world felt bigger. And newer.
