I Found My OTP | House of Hades

Dear Mr. Rick Riordan,

Greetings, good sir!

I just finished House of Hades just a few hours ago. And it’s been a week since I began reading it. Granted it’s not an impressive reading record, especially when compared with that person who finished it in five—or was it four?—hours.

Anyway, when I flipped to the dedication page, I just had to laugh. Fans on Facebook say that you troll on Twitter a lot. That was the first time to see it for myself.

Where did you get the description for the humanoid forms of Nyx and Tartarus? I’ve always known them to be abstract concepts and hardly gave them much thought. To bring them beyond life and give them shape interests me. I wonder where you drew your inspiration for them.

But what really made me curious is if what Nico has is just a boy crush or not. Frankly, I’m not that good with signs so if there was anything there to indicate something, it escaped me. Would you be clearing that out by the next book?

Oh, and I believe I just found the pair I will root for until the end of the series: Leo and Calypso. I knew Percy and Annabeth are one of the series’ OTPs but I felt really bad for Calypso. That’s why when she and Leo met, I knew something clicked—and nothing like those other pairs in the series. I really wish that they’d be different. I just find them both refreshing in a number of ways. I hope you give the two of them a good chance.

Thank you for such a wonderful read.

I completely agree with you. I mean, I like Percabeth and Jasper is…okay i guess. Frazel is just plain adorable, but I never really rooted for any pairing until Leo and Calypso happened. I kind of feel like the gods sent him to be her liberation of Ogygia–fulfilling their promise as obscurely as gods can.

YES! Wow. Someone agrees with me on this. Cool.
She’s way overdue for freedom and to have a hero of her own–and one that isn’t caught up in a relationship in the “real” world. I’d hate for infidelity to happen; guess that’s why she was made to wait until the right hero came to her.

I guess that’s the best part isn’t it? Leo doesn’t really have anyone waiting for him: Thalia’s a Hunter, Khione’s insane, Hazel has Frank, and Reyna (despite my previous wishes) doesn’t have the time to even be considered. So yeah, Calypso’s finally found her guy.

Yeah! And I hope the Fates and the gods allow them as good an ending as the others.
