Finding Closure

How hard is it to find closure?

If we are to go by memes, it’s said to be difficult. A good number of my friends – who base it on experience – would agree. And those who found it rarely like it.

As for me, I found it. And at the same place that I did last year!

Sebastian’s Cold Comfort predictably came up with special flavors for this year’s Valentine season. These special flavors started in 2014. For three years, customers have seen the Matinong Boyfriend and Matinong Girlfriend (both of which costs Php 125.00) change ingredients and flavors, which kept patrons like me wondering how each tastes like. Then, last year, two more flavors were added: the Unresolved Issues known for its pieces of candied ampalaya or bitter gourd (fetches for Php 100.00 scoop) and the Closure, which is – personally – their best ice cream yet.

Last year’s Closure was chrysanthemum ice cream mixed with orange zest and vanilla. I knew that memory did not deceive me when I remembered it to be more fragrant and had a brighter color.

This year’s Closure is Earl Grey ice cream with lemon and orange. Although it’s different from the previous mix, it still is an absolute good. Creamy, smooth, and comforting—if only closures were as delicious as this scoop (which costs Php 125.00 per scoop) and could be easily found in a dessert shop, that would be great. Sadly, not all closures are like that. Thank goodness for ice cream.

The special Valentine flavors are good while supplies last.

It kinda fits when you consider the flavors they’ve had since they opened. They’ve had green mangoes with nam prik, green mangoes with bagoong, champorado with dilis, tikoy, tibok-tibok, sapin-sapin, puto bumbong and bibingka, and Bicol express. And so much more!
They’re good at translating local flavors into ice cream.
